CRIME AND OTHER MATTERS ( January 25th 2006 )

As reported to the Winterton Parish Council, few crimes have been reported to the Police over the last six weeks. However, concerns were raised regarding anti-social behaviour in the village and recently there has been a series of break-ins to unoccupied holiday chalets and damage caused at the new Coastwatch tower. Officers are targeting additional patrols in the village to tackle these problems.

At our neighbouring village HEMSBY again, little crime has been reported to the Police. Most that were reported were connected to the villages' holiday centres.

Concerns have been raised over speeding traffic through the village and a request has been sent to Acle Road Policing for attention, particularly on Winterton Road whilst work on the bridge is on-going.

There have also been concerns regarding possible drug use in the public toilets. Officers are targeting checks and patrols to ensure such activities do not take place.

It is intended that this page will be updated on a quarterly basis. If you have any information or comments regarding these, or any other issues, you are encouraged to contact your local policing team via any of the methods shown above.

Norfolk Constabulary also provide a lot of useful information on their main website from mobile police stations and safety camera locations to policing in your area and have recently launched a site for young people which has a lot of down-to-earth advice and information, as well as games and competitions.  This can be found at www.norfolkbeatwise.org.uk.
